Kokomo Athletics

Congratulations to the Kokomo Girls Track and Field team for placing 3rd in the sectional in our highest TEAM placing in 10 years. It was a total team effort scoring in 11 events with strong support and encouragement from all teammates. First through 8th places are All-Sectional with 1st place being sectional champion. Starting off in the 4 x 800 relay, Morgan and Christina demonstrated strong leadership teaming up with Ja'Layia and Ilana finishing 7th. Eliana and Abrashia placed 4th and 8th respectively in the 100 meters. Mia and Keaira threw well in both the shot and discus with Mia throwing season bests in both. Akiera and Abrashia placed 4th and 5th in the 200 meters respectively. Tia placed 5th while Nevaeh was 10th in the 400. Our 4 x 400 relay of Ja'Layia, Nevaeh, Eliana and Tia placed 6th in a very gutsy race to score big points for us at the end of the meet. Gabbie and Eliana tied for 5th in the high jump. Ja'Layia soared to a personal best in the Pole Vault jumping 7'6" placing 5th. Jahz walked away as the sectional champ in the 100 hurdles while Giyanna brought in 5th place. Jahz also took another sectional championship in the 300 hurdlers with Giyanna brining in a close runner up. In the long jump, Akiera placed 9th while Tia was the sectional champion with her final jump at 16'4.5". Giyanna, Akiera, Tia and Jahz teamed up to be the sectional champions in the 4 x 100 meter relay. We enjoyed strong coaching, energetic parental support and great administration from our athletic department on our home track.
