Kokomo Varsity Wildkats outsted Richmond Red Devils 5-4 on Saturday. Richmond Red Devils were the first to get on the board in the third when Ally Powell drew a walk, scoring one run. Kokomo Varsity Wildkats jumped into the lead in the bottom of the third when Lanaya Buckner hit a solo inside the park home run, Lucy Goad tripled, scoring two runs, and Hattie Tweed singled, scoring one run. Emma Lees earned the win for Kokomo Varsity Wildkats. The pitcher allowed eight hits and four runs over seven innings, striking out eight and walking three. Powell took the loss for Richmond Red Devils. The righty went six innings, giving up five runs on six hits, striking out five and walking four. Buckner and Lees were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected two hits for Kokomo Varsity Wildkats while hitting back-to-back. Buckner and Goad each drove in two runs for Kokomo Varsity Wildkats. Amirah Marciniak stole two bases. Kokomo Varsity Wildkats ran wild on the base paths, amassing four stolen bases for Kokomo. In the second game: Lanaya Buckner collected three hits in three at bats, as Kokomo Varsity Wildkats defeated Muncie Central 19-1 on Saturday at Kokomo High School. Buckner tripled in the first inning, singled in the third inning, and singled in the fifth inning. Kokomo Varsity Wildkats scored 10 runs in the first inning on the way to victory. Goad earned the win for Kokomo Varsity Wildkats. The hurler surrendered zero hits and one run over three innings, striking out three and walking two. B Alexander took the loss for Muncie Central. The pitcher went five innings, allowing 19 runs (14 earned) on 15 hits, striking out none and walking nine. Martin pitched two innings of shutout ball for Kokomo Varsity Wildkats in relief. The reliever gave up two hits, striking out three and walking none. Kokomo Varsity Wildkats collected 15 hits in the game. Marciniak drove the middle of the lineup, leading Kokomo Varsity Wildkats with four runs batted in. The first baseman went 3-for-4 on the day. Buckner, Marciniak, and Tweed each collected three hits for Kokomo Varsity Wildkats. Federspill collected two hits for Kokomo Varsity Wildkats in three at bats.
