Varsity vs Lafayette Jeff. Coming off a tough 0-4 weekend at the Zionsville Invitational, the Kokomo Boys Volleyball team had every reason to hang their heads. But that’s not what happened Monday night. Instead, the Kats took the floor against a powerful Lafayette Jeff squad and brought something we hadn’t consistently seen yet this season—energy, heart, and a relentless defensive effort. Though the scoreboard shows a 0-3 loss, anyone in the gym saw something much more important: signs of growth. Lafayette Jeff is a team that knows how to finish plays. They hit with power, and they don’t give second chances. But Kokomo met that challenge with scrappy defense and a noticeable uptick in communication. We didn’t roll over. We rallied. There’s still work to be done but for a group that’s learning on the fly and battling through a tough stretch with injuries, Monday night felt like a turning point. We looked like a team hungry to improve. Next up: a road trip to South Bend Riley on Wednesday.
