Our Kats kept the Friday night lights on extra late in a 13 inning almost four hour contest against the Hot Dogs! After a bumpy opening inning giving up two runs on errors, the team was able to keep Frankfort off of the board for ten straight innings! In the 12th when Frankfort scored, the Kats came right back to tie it up with a double by JJ Gillespie. Isaac Flamino laid down a sacrifice bunt moving courtesy runner D’Marion Shiraef to third base. Logan Dockemeyer tied it up with a sacrifice fly to right field scoring Shiraef. In the 13th the Hot Dogs scored again, but the resilient Kats came right back! Now playing right field, D’Marion Shiraef gets his first varsity hit at a great time with a line drive into left field. Miles Cunningham lays down a beautiful bunt for a single, Harry Blake sacrifice bunts moving runners to second and third, and then Eli Roe singles to tie the game! The Kats aren’t done! With two outs Gillespie is intentionally walked, bringing up Flamino that draws a walk to allow Miles Cunningham to score the winning run! Great outings by Brighton Harris as starting pitcher on the mound as well as Logan Dockemeyer in relief. Amazingly in thirteen innings we only used two pitchers with each of them seemingly going the distance! Superior senior leadership was displayed! Harry Blake provided flashy glove work making plays at second base, right field, and center field! Kats travel next Tuesday to play conference rival Muncie Central. Go Kats!
