Kats Knocked Out of State Tournament, Lose 3-2

By Aaron Blessing | Oct 8, 2026 10:17 PM

The Kokomo Wildkats concluded the 2026 season in much the same way that they began it, competing but falling just short. They dropped the sectional semifinal game to the Lebanon Tigers by a score of 3-2, but played very well.
From the start of the match, the Wildkats were on the front foot and pressed Lebanon into their defending half of the field, rarely allowing them to possess or penetrate going forward. The Kats put pressure on the Tiger back line and created several scoring chances. Seniors Braedyn Booker and Nathan Lay teamed with junior Kingston Johnson to put pressure on the Tigers.
The Kats held the Tigers to one shot in the first half and went into halftime deadlocked at 0-0.
In the second half, after Johnson broke free behind the Tiger back line, he was fouled and earned a penalty kick. Senior Gael Cordero put the kick from the spot away to give the Kats a 1-0 lead. Moments later, Lebanon rallied and tied the game at 1-1.
After a handball in the Tiger penalty area, Cordero notched his second goal of the night, and to give the Kats a 2-1. Lebanon rallied to tie the game at 2-2, and it looked like the game would go to over. But it was not to be. The Tigers scored the game winner with just under 5 minutes left in the match. The Kats conclude their season, but would like to thank our seniors for all their effort and hard work this year: Captains Ethan Landrum and Braedyn Booker, Hudson Kalkstein, Grant Gibson, Lucas Araujo Borges, Gael Cordero, Simone Bacchiani,, Nathan Lay, Jadon Colescott, Shaun Rogers, and German Barahona Martin.
