Boys (149 - 34) Loss Thursday night the Katfish traveled to Russaville to square off against the Western Panthers in the boys final dual meet of the season. After a few day hiatus from the pool, due to the snowy weather, the Katfish pushed themselves but ultimately fell to the Hoosier Conference Champion Panthers 149-34. We had some good swims overall, with several athletes competing for spots in new events we prepare to pin-down our sectional lineup. Ethan Lytle, Phenix Bray, and Odin Salinas pushed themselves to the brink of exhaustion in the 200 IM; as did Jesse Cummings & Elliot Taskey in the 200 Freestyle. Phenix Bray and Carter McClain give it their all in the 100 Fly; as did our 500 Freestyle swimmers, Oliver Taskey, Zavier Larmer, and Marc Cuberta. Sophomore, Zavier Larmer completed his first 100 Backstroke of the season while showing off his impressive backstroke start. Top finishers include Tae Ow Kanayama, who took second place in the 100 Fly; and the 200 Medley Relay team of Carter McClain, Zavier Larmer, Tae Ow Kanayama, and Oliver Taskey. There’s still a ton of work to be done in the pool prior to sectionals, but these young men are headed in the right direction. The Katfish boys will be back in action Thursday, February 19 at Carmel High School for Boys Sectional Prelims. Go Katfish! -Coach Whiteman
