Western (Girls) 11/18/2025 Girls (56 - 124) Loss Last night the Lady Katfish traveled to Russiaville to take on the Western Panthers in their season debut. Despite the final score (56-124 Western); our enthusiasm to compete, willingness to learn, and infectious team spirit made for a great first outing of the season. Meet highlights included a first place relay finish in the 200 Freestyle Relay with the team of Maddie Armstrong, Morgan Rakestraw, Shanna Fowler, and Alyssa Frederick. Freshman Shanna Fowler made her debut as a triple winner for the Katfish, placing first in the 100 Freestyle, 100 Breaststroke, and as part of the aforementioned relay team. Our senior captains (Maddie Armstrong & Morgan Rakestraw) did an amazing job leading our team through the night and provided us with some incredibly close races in the 200 IM, 100 Butterfly, and 100 Backstroke. A few other standout performances include: Emma Di Stefano competing in the 200 IM & 500 Freestyle, Clarissa Landrum leading off our “A” Medley Relay, Karla Giler & Gretchen Riggle in the 200 Freestyle, and everyone in the 200 Freestyle Relays!! We saw a ton of good things last night, both in the water and on the pool deck! Our team has jumped in size this season to seventeen girls, only three of which are returning swimmers for our varsity squad… so our primary goal going in was to simply experience our first swim meet. Overall, we did a great job! Everyone made it to their events, completed their events, showed excellent sportsmanship, and supported their teammates all the way through our post-meet cool down. There’s a ton of room to grow, but this team is eager to learn… I can't wait to see what this season holds!! Next up, we will host Manchester Monday November 24, 6pm at Kokomo High School. Go Katfish! Coach Whiteman
