In a preview of the Kats’ state tournament’s sectional hosted by Logansport, the Kokomo Wildkats hosted non-conference foe Logansport Tuesday night and struggled, losing by a score of 9-0 and moved to 2-8-1 (0-3-0) on the season. The Wildkats struggled to mark the Berries, giving up goals off of set pieces and crosses, the first two in the first seven minutes of the match. After conceding a third, the Kats did find a few chances going up each flank, but conceded goals four and five with 18 minutes remaining before halftime. After the half, the Berries pressed their advantage quickly, scoring four goals in 14 minutes to push the lead to 9-0. The game ended at 9-0 with 20 minutes remaining on the clock per the IHSAA mercy rule. The Wildkats will have to regroup as Logansport will be in the Wildkats’ sectional hosted by Lafayette Jeff. The Wildkats host Anderson Saturday looking to earn a victory in conference play. In the junior varsity match, the Kats played well from box to box, and Darious Easton’s goal in the first twenty seconds of the match was enough to earn the victory by a score of 1-0.
