The Kokomo Lady Kats traveled to Logansport on Thursday night and came away with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over the Lady Berries. The win was a result of complete team effort, with every player stepping up and contributing to the success on the field. The game’s only goal came in the first half when Gisella Herrera and Mattie Rayl connected on a sharp give-and-go combination. Rayl finished the play by finding the back of the net, giving Kokomo the lead. From there, the Lady Kats relied on teamwork and grit to control the pace and protect their advantage. Offensively, Herrera, Rayl, and Patience Rowles led the charge, keeping possession and applying pressure throughout the night. The midfield unit — Jackie Cuatlacuatl, Bailey Vasquez, Kameya McClatchey, and Ashley Corrales — played relentlessly on the outside, showcasing toughness and steady improvement every game. On defense, Nevaeh Wilson, Jay’Onna Spratt, and Elaina Gibson locked down the middle, while freshmen Isla Duncan and Karla Giler shined on the outside. Their strong play helped goalkeeper Aiyona Cox record a shutout and preserve the victory. The JV squad also found success, earning a 2-0 win with their own complete team effort. Both teams continue to make strides in fundamentals and chemistry, showing noticeable growth throughout the season. With this win, the Lady Kats build momentum heading into their next conference matchup as they travel to Anderson on Saturday, aiming to extend their winning streak.
