The Kokomo High School boys cross-country team put together a strong showing on Saturday at the Wildcat Classic, hosted by Indiana Wesleyan University. Racing in the big-school division against several of the state’s top teams and individuals, the Kats finished 13th out of 23 teams. Leading the way was senior Cooper Cage, who turned in an outstanding race to place 11th overall in 15:53. Senior Preston Arreola followed with a strong performance, running 16:35 for 38th place. Senior Ben Wallace and sophomores Reece Wright and Leo Serra, rounded out the scoring lineup for Kokomo. The meet was an excellent test for the team, showing both their strengths and areas to improve moving forward. The JV squad also had a solid day. Freshman Monte Bunn led the way with a personal best of 20:44, while freshman Tanner Workman broke the 21-minute barrier with a time of 20:58. Both runners have shown consistent improvement and continue to demonstrate excellent growth. The Kats return to action this upcoming Saturday at the Flashrock Invitational, held at Northview Church in Carmel, where they’ll once again compete against elite competition.
