The Unified Kats closed out the regular season in commanding fashion, putting up 120 points and securing top finishes across the board to defeat Lawrence North (86) and Pike (83). This meet told the story of our season: growth, grit, and a team that’s peaking at the right time. The meet opened with field events, and the Kats came out sharp. In shot put, the team delivered results across all flights. Senior Aubreanna Fitts launched a personal-best 22’2” to take second in her flight. Over in another flight, Mariah Edington claimed first with 14’7”, Claire Rowe took second at 13’11”, and Katy Haverkamp placed fifth with a throw of 11’03”. Long jump brought another wave of strong finishes. Braedyn Booker led his group with a winning jump of 16’00”, while Josh Smith (10’1”) and Ivanna Mena (10’10”) each captured the top spot in their respective flights. Ellie Neuhauser recorded a season-best 12’06”, Erik Carter posted a PR at 6’09”, and Izzy Sargent added a new personal best at 7’06”. The 100m sprints were packed with highlights. Senior MJ McColl ended his final 100M sprint with a win in 12.48, followed by Gage Meyers (12.73) and Austin Jewell (14.30) to sweep their heat. Bella Steele had a breakout moment, winning her heat in 16.88 for her first career victory. Izzy Sargent (17.80) and Adi Driver (19.04, her second-fastest time of the season) followed with strong efforts. Senior Karsen Huffman clocked 13.37 to lead his heat, with Emiliano Heredia (14.82), Logan Isaacs (15.49), and Lucas Frederick (15.51) rounding out a clean team sweep. The 400m continued the trend of consistent execution. Devon Lee won his heat with a second PR of the day—1:01.83. In the second heat, Justin Smith (1:05.00), Ethan Lytle (1:09.37), and Joey Randolph (1:13.03) locked in 2nd through 4th place. Emiliano Heredia (1:03.91) and Tyler Lowry (1:09.44) followed up behind Lee for 2nd and 3rd. Amelia Van Horn and Macy Rakestraw both capped off their seasons with personal bests—1:29.67 and 1:24.08, respectively. The Kats closed the meet with two more wins in the relays, putting an exclamation point on the day. The boys—Justin Smith, MJ McColl, Karsen Huffman, and Braedyn Booker—delivered a smooth and fast race, taking first in 52.4 . The girls—Ellie Neuhauser, Claire Rowe, Isabel Boyance, and Maddie Armstrong—broke their own school record in the Unified Kats Girls 4x100m again, clocking 1:11.16. This performance was everything a team hopes for to close out the season—focused, connected, and competitive. The regular season is behind us. Sectionals are next—and the Kats are locked in and ready to compete. Special shoutout to Devon Lee for hitting PRs in both events and leading with poise and positivity. His example continues to inspire this team and reflects what Unified Sports is all about.
