Lady Kats Improve at IWU

On Saturday we raced in the Wildcat Classic at IWU. The Lady Kats overall raced well as we had several of our runners set a season best or a personal best. We raced in the big school race and faced good competition that will only help us as our season moves along. Alaina Thompson was our first runner in as she placed 36th with a time of 19:58. This was the second straight week Alaina was under 20 minutes and even though it was not a PR she is in a good spot right now at this point and the season and her arrow is only pointing up. Also in the varsity race Allana Helmberger(26:25) & Alice Cooper(27:00) had season best times. This was the best these two ladies have ran all year and we are happy to see their improvement. In our JV race our girls all did well against fast competition. Freshman Naomi Black set a big PR with a time of 27:12, with teammate Bethany Burns setting a season best time of 27:35. Freshman Emmie Sargent(30:41) and sophomore Addie Wright(34:30) both set big PR's as well and both girls are gaining more confidence each week. We are excited for these girls who are mostly in their first year running and how they are improving week to week. We will take this week off from racing and focus on training. We will next race September 26th in the Culver Academies Invite. Go Kats! Coach Ousley
