What a beautiful day for an early season golf invite. We just happen to have hosted a tournament with some of the top teams in the state! My first year coaching, the team shot a 486, last year a 415, and this year a 405, for a 10th place finish out of 15 teams. This includes teams like Westfield, Hamilton Southeastern, even Bloomington North. We already have 3 teams on the waiting list for next year, just trying to be able to play in our tournament. Also a few schools had sick players, so I was happy that 4 more of my girls got to play 18 holes as individuals! We have 1 senior, Lucy Goad, who still amazes me playing softball right handed and golf left handed to not mess up either swing. 6 Juniors, who you guys have heard from a bunch in my Chatters. Averie Stiner, Izzy Barker, Emily Bianco, Meghan Truax, Mara Hulce-Neiheisel, and Bodhi Holsapple have all worked very hard during summer workout drills and striving to better each round. Sophmores Kate Anthony and Lily Wilcox have come back for a second year and are even better than last year. New this year are 5 amazing freshmen with a variety of experience. Jocelyn Jenkins and Adaleigh Bagwell have played golf for a long time, including on my middle school team last spring, Hazel Bandelier and Bella Justice were on my MS team last spring, but are still new to golf and getting better each day! Amyah Jones is new to golf, but has played with her family some. I am so excited about the future of Kokomo golf! The girls are supportive of one another and many of them are close in score, so we will see how the year unfolds. We are in action Monday, now at home due to schedule conflict at Rock Hollow against Maconaquah so all 14 will be playing 9 holes. Stay tuned......
