Girls Swimming 2026 Sectional Finals Saturday afternoon the Katfish traveled to Carmel High School to compete in the final round of the toughest girls swim sectional in the state. Competitors included those who finished in the top-16 at Thursday night’s prelims… the consolation heat included those who placed (9th - 16th), and the finals heat (1st - 8th). Relay Results The 200 Medley Relay with the team of Maddie Armstrong, Shanna Fowler, Morgan Rakestraw, and Clarissa Landrum finished in 8th place with a time of 2:09.77. The 200 Freestyle Relay team of Morgan Rakestraw, Maddie Armstrong, Alyssa Frederick, and Shanna Fowler earned a 5th place finish with a time of 1:52.49. Capping off the day for the Katfish was the 400 Freestyle team of Clarissa Landrum, Emma Di Stafano, Gretchen Riggle, and Alyssa Frederick who earned a 10th place finish with a time of 4:50.12. Individual Results Four-year senior swimmers Maddie Armstrong & Morgan Rakestraw wrapped up their senior seasons in a spectacular fashion. Armstrong earned 14th place in the 200 IM (2:33.98) and a 12th place finish in the 100 Backstroke (1:14.05);and Morgan Rakestraw earned a 12th place in the 200 IM (2:30.21) and an 11th place finish in the 100 Fly (1:09.05). Junior Alyssa Frederick finished the season with a 13th place finish in the 200 Freestyle (2:14.62) and a 13th place finish in the 500 Freestyle (6:12.39). Freshman Shanna Fowler capped off her first varsity season with a 10th place finish in the 100 Breaststroke (1:13.09) and an 8th place finish in the 50 Freestyle (26.48). And last, but certainly not least, rookie-senior Emma Di Stefano was able to jump from alternate to competitor in the 100 Backstroke after another swimmer had to scratch their event. Di Stefano ultimately placed 16th in the event with a time of 1:18.10 Each season is different in having its unique ups and downs, and this season was incredibly unorthodox to say the least. I’m incredibly proud of our girls faced that adversity head-on and continued to give their all in practice and competition. Overall, the Lady Katfish finished as a team in 7th place scoring 110 points. To our rookie-seniors (Emma, Teagan, Emiliye, and Gretchen), it’s been such a joy getting to know you this season. Your outgoing personalities made practices such fun each and every day! I’m so proud of you all for stepping outside of your comfort zone and trying something new (and/or returning) during your senior year! And to my four-year seniors, Maddie & Morgan… It's difficult to express my gratitude for everything you’ve done for the Katfish swim program over the past several years. You’ve been with this program since sixth grade and have given so much to this sport. Your leadership and presence will be missed dearly next season, but your impact on the program will not be forgotten. I wish you both nothing but the best in your future endeavors. You will always be a Katfish. Thank you for everything, it’s been one heck of a ride! Proud to be a Katfish! -Coach Whiteman
