The LadyKats put together an impressive showing at the Clinton Prairie Invite, finishing in the top eight despite bringing only nine wrestlers to the tournament. As a team, Kokomo racked up a remarkable 20 pins in just 21:36, showcasing their aggressiveness and ability to finish matches quickly. While the limited roster meant giving up points in several weight classes, the girls who competed stepped up in a big way and delivered one of the team’s most efficient performances of the season. Individually, the LadyKats were led by Makyila Rubush, who dominated her bracket to become the 125-lb champion with a perfect 5–0 record. Her strong performance set the tone early and helped keep Kokomo competitive in the team race. Addison Cline also turned in a standout day at 130 lbs, finishing 4–1 and continuing to prove herself as a consistent and reliable scorer for the lineup. At 135 lbs, Ja’Layia Williams battled through tough competition to finish 3–2, adding valuable points for the team. In the upper weights, Kokomo continued to shine. Myla Duke put together a solid 3–2 performance at 155 lbs, while senior standout Berklee Stump delivered another strong outing, going 4–1 and earning third place at 170 lbs. Heavyweight Sydney Sease also stepped up with an impressive 4–1 record, helping the LadyKats close the day with momentum and toughness in the final rounds. Across the board, the girls demonstrated resilience, control, and improved technique. Despite scoring zeros in several weight classes due to injuries and absences, Kokomo still managed to secure 8th place with 104.5 points, finishing behind Western and ahead of several programs with fuller lineups. The coaching staff emphasized that getting healthy will be key moving forward, but they are proud of the effort and competitiveness displayed by the group today. The LadyKats will now turn to film review and fine-tuning details from the weekend as they prepare to take the next step toward becoming a more complete and dangerous tournament team.
